Our Environmental and Social Commitments
57NorthPlank is committed to having a low environmental impact. All of our electricity is purchased from renewable suppliers. Our solid woods are sourced from forests within 200 miles of our facilities. We try and make sure that every one of our hardwood suppliers engage in sustainable lumber practices. 57Northplank aggressively tries to reuse as much waste as possible that has been produced during the manufacturing of our furniture. We also use very low VOC paints, adhesives and stains to help protect both your family and the environment. A large portion of the packaging we use for shipping is recycled from paper products.
Our company also engages in progressive social policies. We pay all our workers better than the average wage in our industry. In addition to maternity leave, we also offer two weeks of paid paternity leave to our employees. Our company offers to match employee donations to many different non-profit organizations. We also encourage community involvement and continuing education. 57NorthPlank tries to hire a diverse group of employees. We feel that having a variety of viewpoints tends to only strengthen our organization.
Our Process
How we tailor your furniture.
It’s simple and gets you exactly what you want in the size that fits your need.
First, look through our furniture selections online and pick something you like from one of our standard pieces. Next choose from our hardwood, drawer pulls and finish options. Then measure the space where you want it to go. Take another look at your selection and see if any of our standard sizes match your size requirements. If there is a piece that fits your need, place an order through our web order form.
If not, give us a call! We will walk you through different options available to tailor the size of the furniture for your home. We will then send you a drawing of your piece for review. Emailed to you within 48 hours, the picture will detail the dimensions and will serve as a final check on your selections.
If you are pleased with it, we will start construction. And we will always have it completed in no more than 12 days!
Craftsmanship.
Every piece of 57NORTHPLANK furniture is made to order, using materials you specify blended with our construction process. Our craftsmen include design and furniture making experts with years of experience. 57NORTHPLANK sources local woods when possible, and will take no detail for granted, from the hardware selection to the exact dimensions.
Our process ensures we build with the best materials to your exact dimensions and standards. And every piece of 57NORTHPLANK furniture undergoes a thorough inspection before it’s shipped directly to its new home.
Our Quality Materials
Quality construction begins with quality materials.
We utilize locally harvested Black Walnut, Maple, Ash or Cherry. When we do use veneers, they are chosen to be the most appropriate with the particular piece. We place our veneers on a laminated wood core.
Hardwoods exhibit the following characteristics which make them ideal for a long-lasting piece of furniture:

Every piece of 57NORTHPLANK furniture is designed to utilize the characteristic of the wood to its best advantage. None of our furniture contains MDF or particle board.
Dovetailed corners and other details
There are several options for drawer construction, and the best ones offer strength, storage flexibility, and attractiveness. 57NORTHPLANK uses only English dovetails on our drawers. These provide significant strength for a secure, tight joint between the different pieces of wood.
Our Hardware
Quality in every detail.
57NORTHPLANK uses soft close drawer glides on every every piece of furniture that has a drawer. We also exclusively feature soft close door hinges. Very few furniture companies use both throughout their entire product lines. Our undermount draw glides help maximize the space in every drawer. Each drawer is also able to be removed from the glides with ease. Both the drawer glides and the door hinges are produced here is the U.S.
Shipping
Custom sizing, custom design, short wait.
Our furniture is custom made for each client. We have no warehouse of stock or a back log of unsold items. 57NORTHPLANK will begin the design and construction as soon as you have paid for your order and have it ready to be shipped in 12 days or less
